This hybrid was built to fix the beep/squelch bug during a call which seems to effect mostly VZW users and fix the profiles crashing bug.

Run a backup first and back up your third party apps.

Extract the files from the zip folder. You can download the zip folder HERE.

Download/install v4.5.0.160 from here:

Telus Mobility

MegaShares

MEGAUPLOAD

After installed navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader and delete the vendor.xml file.

Then go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8330-v4.5.0.160_P3.4.0.41 but don't open the CDMA or Java folder yet then move the Phone.alx file from the zip folder and replace it with the one you see in the window.

A window will open and you need to select Move and Replace or you can copy and paste whichever you prefer.

Next open the CDMA folder and move/replace the rim8330c.sfi file.

Next open the Java folder and move/replace all the net_rim_bb files from the zip folder.

When all of that is finished you can free up a little more memory by removing the carrier themes with CrackMem. You can use CrackMem to wipe and load the OS if you can get your BB to connect. I couldn't get CrackMem to cooperate so I used JL Cmder.

Run CrackMem (you don't need to plug in your BB yet) and select/confirm your operating system. Then check the check boxes for everything you want removed from the OS and select Execute Selections. Then close CrackMem. This removed the files for everything you wanted removed and put them in a folder in the Research In Motion folder. Like I said above if you can get your BB to connect to CrackMem then go ahead and use it to wipe and load the OS. I got tired of messing with it:)

You can also use Shrink A OS by lyricidal. It's a nice program for removing anything you don't whant from the OS.

Next run JL Cmder and wipe your BB then navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader and double click the loader.exe (folder with a cellphone on it) file to launch the application loader and load your hybrid.

When the OS load is complete you can close the application loader and run DM and restore your backup and third party apps.

I know it sounds like a lot of work but it really isn't biggrin

I can't attach the zip file for CrackMem due to size but you can download it HERE.

Attachments: JL_Cmderv11.9.1.zip (107.2 Kb) · Shrink-A-OS.rar (36.4 Kb)

Are there any warnings/cautions when using a Hybrid OS that we should know about?

No, not that I'm aware of.

I've been running a hybrid for a couple of weeks with no problem.

If you're not careful you can brick your BB but it can be recovered easily.
