MessageSchedule Review/Update Coming this Week!

The folks over at S4BB have update their ever-popular BlackBerry productivity app,
MessageSchedule. Here's the brief tour:

- Allows users to create SMS/E-Mail messages to be sent at a specified time/date.
- Integrates with the BlackBerry menu, allowing the user to send a reply or forward the
message at a specified time/date.
- Integrates with the BlackBerry Contact list for easy addition of recipients.
- Templates for quick creation of SMS/E-Mails.

And what can we expect in the update, which will be released sometime this week:

- Repeated sending, allowing the user to send a specified SMS/E-Mail at regular/recurring
intervals.
- Send using, which will allow the user to specify which E-Mail address(of the one's associated
with the BlackBerry) the message will be sent from.
- Input of Country Codes.
- Other minor bug fixes.

Free Game for the BlackBerry Storm: Dots

Developer Tafasa release this Storm rendition of this old school classic. Here is the official word from the developer:

"Now you can play this classic pencil & paper game right on your BlackBerry! This fun game is easy to understand and enjoyable for all ages. Starting with an empty grid of dots, players take turns, adding a single horizontal or vertical line between two unjoined adjacent dots. A player who completes the fourth side of a box earns one point and takes another turn. The game ends when no more lines can be placed. The winner of the game is the player with the most points. All you have to do is click on the space between adjacent dots to add a line connecting them. Enjoy the fun graphics and unlimited number of move undos while you improve your skills against the computer or defeat your friend!"

After spending some time with the game, I must say that I am impressed by both the single player and the two player modes. The graphics are fun, game play simple, and the game itself works very well on the Storm device. Please note that this game IS ad supported, and an ad will occasional appear on the bottom of the screen - a small price to pay for this great free game.

Important Update from Viigo

That's right, a new update from Viigo promises a new feel that will increase performance, battery life, and ease of use. Here is the official word from them:

SPBTV Released - Watch the Tube on the Berry

SPB software is mainly built for WinMo phones, but today has seen a debut on BlackBerry devices. This app, which claims to have over 100 channels from 17 countries, has to me, come as a large disappointment.

While the idea of watching TV from your BlackBerry device sounds very, very enticing, it should be noted that none of the channels on the app thus far are widely known, and 99% news channels. Not that this is a bad thing, but for $9.99, we should expect more.

If you want to give this one a spin, you can find the Trial version available for OTA download, which allows the user to watch 7 channels.

With an updated UI and many features that will make your blogging life much easier, this newest update to the WordPress app makes it, in my opinion, THE definitive blogging app. Included in the changelog, you'll find such updates as:

Bolt 1.5 Officially Released!

BBM 5.0 to be Released Wednesday!

I have been wondering when RIM would finally give us the official release of the new BlackBerry Messenger. BBM 5.0 has been leaked out over the internet for a few months now and I have been using it to the max. I love the new BBM 5.0.

It looks like Kevin from CB has received an email saying that the official release of BBM 5.0 will come out on October 7th. Now RIM release dates can get pushed back very quickly, but I believe this one will actually happen. Does this mean the full version of OS 5.0 is surely on its way?

Here are the features of BBM 5.0 in case you don’t already use it.

Features:

Enhanced SMS -Allows for a conversational chat-like user experience with a single contact list for the most personal mobile-to-mobile communications

Note: BlackBerry® Device Software 5.0 and later is required for the SMS functionality.

Avatars - Users can choose a picture from the BlackBerry Smartphone gallery and save it as their personal avatar, which will be seen by their contacts. They can also view other avatars in the contact list and zoom in on the avatars of contacts participating in a conversation by selecting "View participants."

Large Media File Transfer - Users can send/receive large file transfers up to 6 megabytes for pictures, files and audio.

Note: BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 is required to receive large media files.

Adobe and RIM Team Up - Full Flash Coming Soon!

We've previously heard RIM had plans to partner up with Adobe and it looks like those plans are finally going through. Today Adobe announced its partnership with RIM which is big news for the future of the BlackBerry browser. They will be providing full flash support to the BlackBerry platform.

It is widely known that the BlackBerry browser leaves a lot to be desired. For some time now users have dealt with a lackluster browser that can't even compare to what other smartphones have to offer. RIM has failed to make much progress on this issue until recently when they announced their acquisition with Torch Mobile. Add that to today's news and come this time next year we could be saying the BlackBerry browser is the best mobile browser there is.
